On September 29, 2012, Dr. Brian Abert, O.D., FAAO, and Dr. Deanna Pedroza, O.D. were married in Golden, Colorado. Dr. Abert and Dr. Pedroza met in Optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Abert is from California originally, and moved to Dr. Pedroza’s home state of Colorado. Dr. Pedroza graduated from Northglenn High School, and thus hasn’t strayed too far from her hometown.
Drs. Abert and Pedroza have a lot in common both being eye doctors. “It always gives us something to talk about at the dinner table for sure,” says Dr. Abert. “We can share our best eye-related happenings of the day and not be bored by each other’s stories!” Dr. Pedroza agrees that there are benefits to working in the same profession as her husband. “I like that we can offer each other advice on specific patient cases,” says Dr. Pedroza. “I also like that we are able to attend continuing education events together.” Next year, Vista Eye Care’s optometrists are planning to trek to Seattle to attend the American Academy of Optometry meeting.
The newlyweds visited the island nation of Fiji for their honeymoon, spending just over a week exploring the islands, hiking, and getting certified to SCUBA dive. When their photographer gives them their wedding photos, we will post some on Vista Eye Care’s website, but for now here are some pictures from their honeymoon!
