Vista Eye Care has proudly been the eye care and vision provider for the Women’s Bean Project in Denver, Colorado.  This organization reached out to Dr. Abert a few years ago to see if Vista Eye Care would be willing to donate exams and eyeglasses to help these women out.  What is the Women’s Bean Project?  Their story and what they do is pretty fantastic:

Women’s Bean Project is a nonprofit social enterprise.  They have a food manufacturing business tied directly to their transitional employment program.  They believe all women have the power to transform their lives through employment.  They hire women who are chronically unemployed, and teach them to work by making delicious, nourishing products that are sold across the United States.  Through their work at Women’s Bean Project, these women learn to stand tall, find their purpose, and break the cycle of poverty.

Please visit their website here to order gift boxes, soup mixes, cookies, sweets, popcorn, coffee, and bread mixes.  Here a few pictures from our fun day in Denver at the Women’s Bean Project:

Dr. Pedroza tests some extraocular muscles as part of our eye exams.

Dr. Abert gets ready to assess the vision of his patients with his portable lens kit.  Our eye exams were complete comprehensive exams and included vision testing as well as eye health testing.

Jemay worked hard to get a large collection of frames to donate to the organization.  Eyeglasses provide great vision, but the wearer also should like their glasses, wear them comfortably, and be confident and proud of how they look in them!  Jemay did an amazing job helping these ladies out.
