Family-Centric, Preventative Eye Care for Everyone

Vista Eye Care’s story began in 2010, sparked by a vision shared by Dr. Brian Abert and Dr. Deanna Pedroza. Both passionate optometrists, the pair met during optometry school and soon discovered a shared dream: to create a patient-centered eye care practice focused on family and preventive health. Their journey led them to Thornton, Colorado, where Dr. Pedroza grew up, and together, they opened their first practice—a modest office with just one exam room. From these humble beginnings, Vista Eye Care has grown into a welcoming community eye health hub where every patient feels like family.

What causes common eye issues like dryness, redness, or eye strain?

Eye issues like dryness, redness, and strain can stem from multiple causes, including prolonged screen time, environmental factors, or underlying conditions. Regular eye exams can help identify the root causes and allow for early management.

How do you treat eye strain and dryness?

We offer tailored solutions, such as blue light-blocking lenses for screen use and specialized treatments like LipiFlow® for dry eye, to relieve discomfort and protect long-term eye health.

What are common signs of vision issues in children?

Look for squinting, covering one eye, or complaining of headaches—these can indicate vision issues like myopia or amblyopia (lazy eye).

What services do you provide for children’s vision health?

We recommend early eye exams to catch issues early and offer treatments like Ortho-K lenses for myopia control, helping children see clearly without traditional glasses.

Are contact lenses safe, and what are the risks of improper use?

Contact lenses are safe when used properly, but improper use, like sleeping in them, can increase risks of infection, including corneal ulcers.

What types of contact lenses do you offer?

We fit a range of lenses, including daily disposables, multifocals, and Ortho-K lenses, designed to address various vision needs, lifestyle preferences, and comfort levels.

How do I choose the right frames and lenses?

Choosing frames involves finding a style that suits your face shape and lifestyle, while lenses need to be tailored to your specific vision prescription and daily activities.

What specialty lenses do you offer?

We provide a variety of advanced lenses, including progressive lenses for multifocal vision, blue light-blocking lenses for digital device use, and UV-protective sunglasses.

Why are annual eye exams important?

Annual eye exams can detect issues like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and vision changes early, even if you’re not experiencing symptoms.

What should I bring to my eye exam?

If you’re new, bring any previous eye health records and your current glasses or contacts. If you’re using eye medications, bring those along as well.

How does nutrition affect my eye health?

Good nutrition, particularly antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin, supports eye health and may reduce risks of age-related macular degeneration.

What preventative services do you offer for eye health?

We provide comprehensive eye exams and advanced diagnostic testing to monitor your eye health, along with recommendations for supplements if needed.

What causes dry eye symptoms like irritation and watering?

Dry eye often results from poor-quality tears or meibomian gland dysfunction, which leads to inadequate eye lubrication and irritation.

How do you treat dry eye?

Our Dry Eye Clinic offers targeted treatments, such as LipiFlow®, to improve tear quality and restore eye comfort, tailored to your specific type of dry eye.

What is myopia and why is it a concern for children?

Myopia, or nearsightedness, can worsen over time, especially in children. It increases risks for future eye issues like retinal detachment and macular degeneration.

How can you help manage myopia in children?

Our Myopia Management program includes options like Ortho-K lenses and specialized glasses to slow progression, helping protect long-term eye health.

What are the symptoms of common eye diseases like glaucoma and cataracts?

Eye diseases often start with subtle symptoms or no symptoms at all. Glaucoma typically affects peripheral vision, while cataracts cause blurry vision.

What treatments do you offer for eye disease?

We use advanced diagnostic tools for early detection and management of conditions like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, ensuring you get the care you need before symptoms progress.
